New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) A day ahead of its nationwide agitation outside Raj Bhawans across the country to protest the delay by Rajasthan Governor in calling a session of the Rajasthan assembly where chief Minister Ashok Gehlot could prove his majority in the 200 member house, the Congress on Sunday organized a digital campaign against 'BJP attempts to violate Constitution and Democratic norms'.
The nationwide digital campaign — ‘Speak Up For Democracy’ - which sought to highlight the BJP’s attempts to violate constitutional and democratic norms and values established over 70 long years in India, saw party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, CWC members , MPs and MLAs post videos in which they spoke about the attempts by the BJP government at the centre to violate constitutional and democratic norms.
The campaign exposed the dissolute political actions of the BJP at a time when the entire nation is reeling under the Covid-19 pandemic.
Former Congress President, Rahul Gandhi tweeted a video which charged the BJP of "Ripping up the constitution and demolishing democracy" even as the whole country was in the middle of fighting the pandemic caused by Coronavirus. It had done the same in Madhya Pradesh.
"We demand to immediately convene an assembly session, which is within our constitutional rights," he said in a video posted on his Twitter account.
Speaking on the issue, Party General Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi said that, “Leadership is recognized in times of crisis. In Corona's national crisis, the country needs a leadership that works in the public interest. But the BJP government at the center has made its intention and its character clear by trying to topple the governments elected by the people. The people will answer”.
The online campaign named "#SpeakUpForDemocracy” ran from 10 am with people posting videos asking the Rajasthan Governor and the Modi Government to show accountability.
It resonated with people and the trend remained at top across India and was number 5 worldwide with more than 300 k tweets till about 5 PM.
CWC members, CMs, Senior party leaders, MP, MLAs, PCC Presidents and Party office bearers and ordinary workers participated in the campaign by posting videos and writing Social media posts, demanding Governor of Rajasthan to convene the Assembly Session of Rajasthan as recommended by the Rajasthan Cabinet.

On, Monday, the Pradesh Congress Committees are to hold protests in front of the Raj Bhawans in their respective states at 11 am demanding 'Save Democracy- Save Constitution' exposing the anti-democratic and anti-constitutional actions of the BJP. The protest gatherings are to be held strictly adhering to the social distancing protocols required by the health and civic authorities.
