New Delhi, Jul 17 (UNI) BJP on Friday rejected 'all baseless allegations' being levelled against its leaders by Congress in Rajasthan and said the principal opposition party was frustrated as it couldn't put its house in order.
'BJP rejects all the baseless allegations being levelled against the BJP leaders by Congress in Rajasthan. Actually, Congress is frustrated as it couldn't put its house in order. They want to blame BJP for their failures by using a manufactured audio clip,' said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra here.
Earlier in the day, the Congress demanded that a case be lodged against BJP leader and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, accusing him of being involved in horse trading of Rajasthan MLAs.
The party also suspended rebel MLAs Bhanwarlal Sharma and Vishvendra Singh from the party for allegedly being involved in the conspiracy to topple the government.
AICC spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that two audio recordings have surfaced in which Mr Sharma, Mr Shekhawat and a BJP leader Sanjay Jain are purportedly talking about the "conspiracy" to topple the government.
In response to this, Mr Shekhawat refuted the allegations and said that he was ready for any probe into the matter.
Congress leader and chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala in a news conference said in Jaipur, "Yesterday, shocking tapes were aired by the media in which Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, BJP leader Sanjay Jain and Congress MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma spoke about bribing MLAs and bringing down Rajasthan government."
Mr Shekhawat said he was ready to face any investigation. The audio doesn't have his voice and that is fake audio, the Minister maintained.
Meanwhile, Former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and 18 other dissident leaders on Thursday moved the high court, challenging the notices from the Rajasthan Speaker over a Congress move to disqualify them from the state assembly.
The matter is scheduled to be heard before a division bench of the Rajasthan High Court on Friday.
