New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) BJP president JP Nadda on Tuesday slammed the Congress over the comments by an advisor of Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Pakistan and Kashmir, saying the recent remarks by Punjab Congress leaders, who enjoy the patronage of the topmost state leadership as well as the High Command in Delhi, are "reprehensible".
"They are repeatedly making irresponsible statements that have grave implications on national security," JP Nadda said in a tweet.
"The leadership of the Congress should clarify its stand whether they support the remarks on Kashmir and Pakistan made by Congress leaders in Punjab? Silence on the matter will be seen as implicit support to such objectionable remarks," he said.
Malwinder Singh Mali, one of the four advisors to Sidhu, sparked a massive row with his controversial remarks on the Kashmir issue.
In a tweet, Mali wrote "Kashmir is a separate country and India and Pakistan are illegal occupants. It belongs to the people of Kashmir".
The statements have attracted criticism from various quarters, both within and outside the Congress party.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Sunday called the comments "atrocious and ill-conceived" and said it was "potentially dangerous" to the peace and stability of the state and the country.
