BJP strongly condemns brutal suppression of oppn in Bengal, says misuse of power totally unacceptable

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) The BJP on Thursday strongly condemned the brutal suppression of opposition's voice in West Bengal and the dictatorial form of the Mamata Banerjee government and said such misuse of power was totally unacceptable.
Addressing a press conference at party headquarters here, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, 'We condemn the way the dictatorial form of the government of Bengal has come out against registering democratic protest today.'
Mr Prasad said one lakh people participated in the rally to the State Secretariat Nabanna in West Bengal and almost 1,500 were injured, including BJP National Secretary Arvind Menon, state vice-president Raju Banerjee, and BJP Yuva morcha president Tejasvi Surya.
He said national level leaders were injured and women mistreated and expressed fear that some chemical was mixed in the water thrown on party workers.
BJP president J P Nadda said, 'Mamata Banerjee’s karyakartas and the Government machinery led by her have unleashed brute force upon BJP karyakartas in an attempt to prevent them from holding protests against her tyrannical & bloodied misrule in West Bengal. Such misuse of power is totally unacceptable & condemnable.'
In a series of tweets, Mr Nadda added 'I want to clearly tell her again that BJP karyakartas have resolved to fight her corrupt, violent and dictatorial rule democratically to restore Bengal’s lost glory and pride. The people of Bengal and BJP will defeat her regime lock, stock and barrel.'
Rampant corruption, looting of Amphan fund, unemployment, ration loot and depriving poor from their earning and increasing unemployment and large scale migration of labour force among others were in the seven-point agenda of the rally.
Mr Nadda said BJP’s struggle to save the rich glory of Bengal will continue.
'We stand with the people of Bengal despite the brazen misuse of state power by Mamata didi. Our brave BJYM karyakartas compelled her to close the Secretariat. This is an admission that she has lost public confidence,' he said.
