Amit Shah visits Bengal ahead of third phase Bihar polls

New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) Eyeing the Bengal Assembly elections next year and amid the ongoing Bihar Assembly polls, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is embarking on a visit to the Trinamool Congress-ruled state on Wednesday as a "warm-up exercise "to the Bengal polls.
According to BJP sources here, Mr Shah is likely to take stock of the emerging situations in the Hills after the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) founder Bimal Gurung pulled out of the NDA and pledged support to Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee.
Earlier, the Home Minister was scheduled to visit poll bound Bengal on November 5, "cancelling" party national president JP Nadda's tour in the state a day later.
During his visit to Bengal, Mr Shah is scheduled to address two important party meetings in Bankura and Kolkata.
The sources said, as part of BJP's efforts to woo Dalits ahead of the Assembly polls, Mr Shah will have lunch with a Matua family at Rajarhat in Kolkata on Thursday.
Informatively, coming three years after Mr Shah, as then BJP president, had lunch with an Adivasi family at Naxalbari in North Bengal in 2017.
