Modi remembers former PM Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary

New Delhi, Jun 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday remembered former prime minister Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary.
He called him a great scholar.
“Shri Narasimha Rao ji belonged to a humble background. He fought injustice from a very young age,” the Prime Minister said during his 66th edition of the monthly radio programme 'Mann ki Baat'.
He said that Narasimha Rao had defied Nizam's order of not singing Vande Matram at the age of 17.
Further, he added, “I hope many more Indians will read more about our former Prime Minister, PV Narasimha Rao Ji.”
Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao served as the Prime Minister of India between 1991–1996.
He was India’s eighth prime minister. He oversaw one of India’s most turbulent phase in recent memory with relative success.
PV Narasimha Rao had served as a senior minister in the cabinets of both Indira and Rajiv Gandhi.
He was also generally considered a suitable successor to Rajiv Gandhi.
Born on June 28, 1921, near Karimnagar, in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, PV Narasimha Rao went to Pune's Fergusson College.
He then attended the Universities of Bombay and Nagpur, from where he received a degree in law.
