Modi, Sitharaman hint at more steps to spur growth

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The National Democratic Alliance government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday indicated that it would take more measures to spur economic growth.
The prime minister said his government has taken a number of key decisions in the past six months and will do more to develop India into a prosperous and progressive nation in the days to come.
"During the last six months, we have taken numerous decisions that have furthered development, accelerated social empowerment and enhanced India’s unity," Modi tweeted on the completion of first six months in office in his second straight term as prime minister.
"We aspire to do even more in the times to come, so that we create a prosperous and progressive New India," he said.
Also during the day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that responses/interventions addressing the needs of the economy will continue.
"Today, we mark the completion of six months of the second term of @PMOIndia @narendramodi. Several significant steps in structural reforms have been taken in these months. Responses/interventions addressing the needs of the economy will continue," she said in a tweet.
The finance minister retweeted the prime ministers tweet that said, "It is 6 months of 2nd term of PM Modi. These #6MonthsOfIndiaFirst have given India a phenomenal reform momentum."
The finance minister's statement came a day after government data showed that the gross domestic product growth for the July-September quarter had dropped slumped to 4.5 per cent from 5 per cent in the previous June quarter.
The hanshtag #6MonthsOfIndiaFirst listed the steps of his government such as strategic disinvestment and reforms in tax regime, banking and labour.
"These #6MonthsOfIndiaFirst have been phenomenal for the rise of New India. From the end of Article 370 to economic reform, productive Parliament to decisive foreign policy, historic steps taken," Modi said.
