PM Modi assures farmers MSP, govt procurement will remain

New Delhi, Sept, 17 (UNI) Soon after the passage of the two key bills relating to agriculture sector in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured the farmers that the mechanisms of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and government procurement would remain.
In a series of tweets in Hindi, the Prime Minister said the farmers would gain by introduction of modern technology and get access to new avenues and opportunities to sell their produce at remunerative prices.
He said that attempts are being made to mislead the farmers but the legislation would free them from the clutches of middlemen.
Mr Modi hailed the passage of two bills as an ``important moment' and said it would further empower the farmers.
