New Delhi. Dec 4(UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and MoS Defence Subhash Bhamre could not make it to the 'At Home' program held on the ocassion of Navy day here on Tuesday.
The 'At Home ' programme is organised every year at the rsidence of the navy chief . While the President is the chief guest at the functoion, it is also attended by the PM, Defence Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
President Ram Nath Kovind, who was the Chief guest on the ocassion. However Ministers Vijay Goel and MoS External Affairs General(Retd) V K Singh were the only ones present from the government.
Further, no oppsition leader was present at the function.
Among those present were National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa.
The PM could not attend the program as he was pre -occupied with electioneering in Rajasthan,while Defense Minister Ms Sitharaman was her official visit to the United States of America.
It is rare that even a single cabinet minister was not present at such event.
Navy Day is celebrated across the country on December 4 on the anniversary of the attack on Pakistan's Karachi harbor.
