New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Describing the late SP Balasubramanyam as a shining example of India’s rich musical and linguistic culture, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday said India’s artistic and cultural world is much poorer and darker for his loss.
In a letter of condolence to the son of the legendary singer, SPB Charan, Mrs Gandhi said, 'I am deeply saddened by the death of Mr SP Balasubramanyam, who so bravery fought the cruel COVID virus for over six weeks before succumbing to it."
"Mr Balasubramanyam was a shining example of India’s rich musical and linguistic culture, singing with equal melodious and emotional power in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. He brought joy and solace to millions of his fans. Our artistic and cultural world is much poorer and darker for his loss."
'He was indeed the Paadum Nila-the singing Moon-who shed his special radiance over the country, 'Mrs Gandhi said, adding, "My thoughts and prayers are with your family in this time of grief. May his soul rest peace."
