New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Former President Pranab Mukherjee was on Tuesday cremated with full military honours at Lodhi Crematorium, here in the national capital.
Due to social distancing norms and other COVID-19 related protocols, the mortal remains were taken in a hearse van instead of normal gun carriage.
Mukherjee's mortail remains were brought to his official residence on Tuesday morning for dignitaries to pay tribute. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid their last respects to the former President at his official residence here at 10 Rajaji Marg.
Central government on Monday had announced seven-day state mourning. Separately, a Home Ministry order that the national flag would fly at half-mast on all buildings during the mourning period. "There will be no official entertainment," the ministry said.
