Former BBC journo Kailash Budhwar dies

New Delhi/London, Jul 11 (UNI) Former senior journalist of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Kailash Budhwar passed away in London on Saturday morning.
He was 88 and survived by wife, three daughters and a son. He was suffering from a skin disorder for the past some time.
Budhwar was also the chairman of the UK Katha Institution.
Katha UK founder Tejinder Sharma told UNI that Budhwar started his job at BBC World Service Radio in 1970 and retired as the Head of Hindi and Tamil sections in the organisation.
Born in 1932 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Budhwar, received his BA degree from Kishori Raman College, Mathura, where he won the 'Best Student' title. He did MA in History from Allahabad University in 1954 and MA in Hindi in 1970 from Punjab University.
Budhwar also got education from the Film Institute Pune, Akashvani, Film, Radio broadcasting and direction. During veteran Bollywood actor late Prithviraj Kapoor's times, Budhwar used to work at the Prithvi Theater in Mumbai. From school days, he liked acting in plays.
In his early days, Kailash also worked in Vikas Vidyalaya Ranchi and Sainik School Karnal, where he was the Head of Department and Senior House Master.
He worked as Staff Artist and News Reader in AIR Lucknow and Delhi. He then joined BBC in 1970.
In 2012, his book - 'London se Patr' - was published in two volumes from Medha Books, Delhi.
He has received fellowships and honours from many international institutions. Katha paid sincere tributes on behalf of the UK family and the entire Hindi world.
