Our victory 'certain' in 2019, says BJP president: Slams Rahul on Rafale, NRC

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) Underlining in crystal clear term the importance of fast approaching general elections, BJP president Amit Shah on Friday said the upcoming polls will be a decisive battle but exuded confidence that the saffron party will win it for certainty.
“Our victory is certain in 2019,” Mr Shah said in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a galaxy of leaders at the first day of two-day long National Convention here.
But he also preferred to caution the party colleagues of the outcome if things do not materialise according to plans,: "Marathas won 131 battles but lost one in Panipat and the impact was huge. India had to go through 200 years of slavery".
Directing his tirade against Congress vis-a-vis corruption, he said, "I want to assure the people of this country that this Chowkidar (Prime Minister Modi) will not spare any thief. We have such effective laws that we will catch and bring them back".
He ridiculed the talks about alliance between Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and said the saffron party will record yet another round of convincing victory in Uttar Pradesh.
"Our strength in UP (Lok Sabha seats ) may go up to 74 but never come down to 72," BJP national president said in his spirited speech at the presidential address.
"Yeh Gathbandhan ek dhakosla hae (These alliance making is only a fraud and gimmick)," Mr Shah said.
His fierce attack on the Gatbandhan comes a day before Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati are likely to announce their alliance on Saturday.
In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP won 71 seats from country's most populated state while its alliance partner Anupriya Patel's Apna Dal had won two.
Mr Shah pointed that in UP also in 2017 assembly polls, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party formed a coalition, but the BJP had emerged victorious.
Dismissing the coming together of “bua- bhatija” (Aunt-newpew) Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav affecting its prospects in UP in anyway, Shah said the NDA would win not a seat less than 73 that the NDA won in 2014.

“We will repeat our 2014 victory in 2019, he said declaring Modi as the most popular leader with a pan-India appeal. Opposition knows it is impossible to defeat Prime Minister Modi that is why it is coming together in a desperate bid,” he said.
Mr Shah slammed opposition parties including the Congress and the Trinamool Congress for their negative approach on NRC exercise in Assam.
The BJP chief recounted the BJP-led NDA government’s decisive actions against Pakistan via surgical strikes.
Talking of India’s increasing might in the international arena, he said Indian passport was now a powerful document.
“When PM Modi went to Davos, he was given the honour of inaugurating the premises. His speech at Davos was a proof of India’s increasing glory,” Shah said.
He said Mr Modi has left no stone unturned to nail corruption. "Go to your voters with heads held high because he has not done anything wrong. People of India won’t be misled by Rahul’s allegations. I had also challenged Rahul Gandhi to prove his charges. Even when the Supreme Court also turned down all their pleas he kept repeating his lies," Mr Shah said.
"He is out on bail in corruption case, Rahul Gandhi is leveling baseless allegations of graft against Modi government; but people are wiser than him," he said.
Mr Shah said under the NRC exercise, 40 lakh migrants have been identified.
"NRC is a system to identify illegal migrants in India. In Assam alone, 40 lakh such migrants were identified in the first stage".
Dwelling at various aspects of governance, he said the Modi government has brought a "sea change" in the country.
In this context, he mentioned measures including Triple Talaq Bill, Haj subsidy, GST decision and also demonetisation.
