Indian singers lead globally to fight Coronavirus

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Saluting the "be all and end all" of music and inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Make for World" mantra, noted singers across country-especially from Mumbai and Kolkata- are on a global 'Mission Music' platform to exploit 'music therapy' to oust the Covid-19 pandemic from the planet.
According to reports, the unveiling of the 'Musical Extravaganza', will be be held on Friday in Dubai where singer Sonu Nigam will be among the first artistes to perform live on stage after things came to a halt amid the "deadly disease."
The concert titled 'The Light Concert' will be graced-besides Sonu and other Indian artistes- by musicians from Russia, Lebanon, Spain, France, Mexico and Emirates.
" I think it marks a new beginning in the global music scenario, as I haven't heard of anything like this happened anywhere in the last few months. The seating will be arranged keeping social distancing and all protocols will be followed," observed Sonu.
The singer also acknowledged: "I have never worked with such a global team, I have to put in four times the hard work. The concert will also be different because each musician is from a different background, so that will lend it a different touch. The last I performed in my country in February. I haven't been on a stage for so long, and I think that when I go up on stage this time, I will start crying."
Talking about how the pandemic has hit the music industry, he maintained, "Musicians, including sound persons, engineers, technicians and event management companies, have been badly hit world-over. But I am glad that thinks have slowly started opening up now."
Singers from Kolkata, who also want to join such initiative in future, are awaiting the event with 'bated breath'.
The news of the 'noble effort' came amid country reported more than 69,000 fresh Covid infections, the second highest single-day tally so far, and 986 deaths.
