India and myself personally will do everything for resolution of conflict: PM Modi to Ukrainian President

New Delhi/Hiroshima, May 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday conveyed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that India and he personally “would do everything within our means” for resolution of the conflict. Zelensky invited India to join the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula initiative.
The two leaders held talks on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Hiroshima.
PM Modi thanked the Ukrainian President for the help rendered during the evacuation of 20,000 Indian students last year in the wake of the conflict. He also conveyed India’s support for dialogue and diplomacy to find a way forward out of the conflict and said that India will continue extending humanitarian assistance to the war-hit country.
The PM in a tweet said:
“Met President @ZelenskyyUa in Hiroshima. Conveyed our clear support for dialogue and diplomacy to find a way forward. We will continue extending humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine.”
The PMO in a tweet said:
“PM @narendramodi held talks with President @ZelenskyyUa
during the G-7 Summit in Hiroshima.”
The Ukrainian President in a tweet said that he briefed PM Modi of his country’s peace formula initiative and invited India to join its implementation. He also spoke about Ukraine’s needs in de-mining and mobile hospitals. He also thanked India for providing humanitarian aid.
“Had a meeting with Prime Minister of India @narendramodi in Japan. I briefed the interlocutor in detail on the Ukrainian Peace Formula initiative and invited India to join its implementation. I spoke about Ukraine's needs in humanitarian demining and mobile hospitals. I thank India for supporting our country's territorial integrity and sovereignty, in particular, at the platforms of international organizations, and for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.”
The Indian readout on the meeting said:
“Prime Minister noted that the conflict in Ukraine has had a significant impact on the whole world. He, however, stressed that for him, this is not a political or economic issue but an issue of humanity, of human values.
“Prime Minister Modi appreciated Ukraine's cooperation in the safe evacuation of Indian students and welcomed the decision by Ukrainian institutions to hold examination in India for the students.
“Prime Minister conveyed India's clear support for dialogue and diplomacy to find a way forward. He said that for a resolution of the situation, India and Prime Minister personally would do everything within our means.”
“Prime Minister said that India will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine.
“President Zelenskyy briefed Prime Minister on the current situation in Ukraine.
“Both sides agreed to remain in touch,” the Indian readout said.
The Ukrainian President’s office in a statement said:
“The President thanked India for supporting our country's territorial integrity and sovereignty, in particular, at the platforms of international organizations.
“The Head of State also thanked India for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
"The war brought many crises and suffering. Deported children, mined territories, destroyed cities, destroyed destinies," Zelenskyy said.
“The President spoke about Ukraine's needs in humanitarian demining and mobile hospitals.
“The Head of State briefed Narendra Modi in detail on the Ukrainian Peace Formula and invited India to join the implementation of this initiative.
“For his part, the Prime Minister of India thanked for the help provided to Indian students during the evacuation from Ukraine because of the full-scale Russian invasion,” it said.
