New Delhi/Kathmandu, May 27 (UNI) Various bilateral cooperation agreements are set to be inked during Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s four-day official visit to India from May 31 to June 3. This will be PM Dahal’s first bilateral visit abroad after assuming office in December last year.
The Nepalese PM is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Dahal will be embarking on the trip along with his daughter, Ganga Dahal, and various other dignitaries and high-ranking officers, according to the Nepalese Foreign Ministry.
“The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his daughter Ganga Dahal,” reads the press release. “The entourage of the Prime Minister will comprise ministers, secretaries, and senior officials of the Government of Nepal.”
According to Nepalese media, while preparations had been made for PM Dahal’s India visit in April itself, the visit was cancelled at the last moment.
As per the tentative itinerary, Prime Minister Dahal will land in New Delhi on May 31. He will be welcomed by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on the same day.
During the visit, PM Dahal will call on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Modi to discuss the diverse areas of the bilateral partnership between India and Nepal. The meeting will be followed by various cooperation agreements between the two countries.
PM Dahal will also address the Nepal-India Business Summit in New Delhi, to be jointly organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Nepalese Foreign Ministry said.
In addition to the official engagements, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will also be visiting Ujjain and Indore as part of his visit, a statement said.
The visit continues the tradition of regular high level exchanges between India and Nepal in furtherance of our ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, an MEA statement said.
The bilateral relations between the two countries have significantly strengthened in the last few years in all areas of cooperation. This visit underscores the importance given by both sides in adding further momentum to the bilateral partnership.
PM Dahal is quoted as saying that his India visit will focus on promoting bilateral interests, enhancing relations, and resolving border-related and other issues.
