Triple Talak cases have come down after  law came into existence : Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi, Jul 31 (UNI) Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday said that it was for the justice, dignity and respect of the women that the Law was made to stop Triple Talak and there has been a decrease in the matters of the same across the country.
Speaking at the Muslim Women Rights Day while addressing the Muslim women across the nation through video conferencing, Mr Prasad said that the Triple Talak had been banned in the 20 nations across the world , however, it took 20 years to implement the same in the country.
Several laws were enacted regarding harassment against women on which all parties would unite but, he said that it was surprising to witness controversy regarding the Triple Talak.
He further said that the Narendra Modi government has made several laws for the benefit and protection of women, and this is a part of all these.
Due to this law there has been a massive decline in the number of Triple Talak matters across the nation , the minister added.
He said that the government not only talks about the Triple Talak , but the ultimate target is to ensure justice for women, their respect and their dignity.
To fuflil the aim , the government has introduced Beti Bachao , Beti Padhao and other schemes for empowering women,he said.
To bring the Muslim women forward and make them a part of mainstream , the government will start with a programme to make them digitally literate and with the help of everyone will create new India, he said.
Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani who was also present said that , ' I always used to ask for Eidi from my brother , Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, however, it is this time that I have got the best Eidi in the form of stopping Triple Talak , and the women have joined here to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this.'
' Today is not only the day for Muslim women , but, for all the women,' she said.
