SC directs States to ensure ambulances for all COVID patients

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday directed all the states to ensure that sufficient number of ambulances were provided in each district, to ensure that patients of Novel Coronavirus reached hospital for testing and treatment.
A bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, was hearing a petition seeking appropriate directions to the concerned authorities for helping the COVID patients' transportation through ambulances.
"All the states are bound by the advisory issued by the Central government to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and the present situation is alarming," the bench observed, during the course of hearing.
'We all know that treatment is very essential initially and for that, ambulances are necessary for patients' transportation. All the state governments must ensure that sufficient number of ambulances are provided in each district for helping the COVID patients in hospital," the apex court observed.
It also expressed its serious concern over the ambulance providers demanding excessive charge for giving service to COVID patients.
The top court of the country also asked all the states to fix a reasonable price for providing ambulance services to Coronavirus patients.
