New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday permitted mining-rich states to collect past dues on royalties from mining companies, bringing clarity to its earlier judgment passed on July 25 and allowing retrospective collection of the levy on all transactions after April 1, 2005.
A nine-judge Bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud with Justices Hrishikesh Roy, Abhay S Oka, BV Nagarathna, JB Pardiwala, Manoj Misra, Ujjal Bhuyan, Satish Chandra Sharma, and Augustine George Masih delivered the verdict.
