New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Supreme Court on Friday asked the Centre to explain inconsistencies in the suicide sections of Mental Health Act.
"We will seek response from the centre on the issue. We heard the petition filed by Red Lynx Confederation. We will hear the matter on a later date," a bench of the Apex Court, headed by Chief justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde said.
The Top Court asked the Union of India to explain the validity of Section 115 of Mental Health Act which runs counter to Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which punishes those who survive suicide attempts.
