INX Media: PC seeks bail in Delhi High Court

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday filed a bail application in Delhi High Court in INX Media case.
A Special Court had remanded the veteran leader of the Indian National Congress to the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation till September 19, Thursday.
CBI Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar had ordered to send Chidambaram to Tihar jail till September 19 and allowed his request for medicine and western toilet in prison.
The probe agency had registered an FIR in the month of May 2017 over alleged irregularities when Chidambaram was Finance Minister in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance in 2007 to INX Media for receiving overseas funds of ₹305 crore.
Chidambaram was arrested from his residence in New Delhi on August 21 and produced before the Special CBI court.
The ex-Minister was remanded to judicial custody on the request of CBI which contended that, if released on bail, he may tamper with evidence or influence the witnesses of the case.
