New Delhi, Jul 11 (UNI) India on Thursday expressed the hope that Kartarpur Corridor project would be expeditiously completed as far as infrastructure is concerned which includes the work on two important aspects -- state of the art passenger terminal and four-lane highway which is going to connect zero point of Kartarpur Corridor to national highway.
External Affairs Ministry's official spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said: ``We are hopeful that the work on these two projects will be completed in time, one by Sep 2019 and the other by October 2019. So reports which say that that we are slow in terms of finishing our projects, it's not the correct depiction.'
During regular weekly media briefing, the spokesperson said that India has taken it up with Pakistan in the past as well not only infrastructure related points but also including the construction of a bridge in Kartarpur Corridor. ``I think there is some discussion going on whether there should be a bridge or a paved road but even on other aspects,' he added.
As decided earlier, Indian and Pakistani officials will meet on July 14 for the second round of talks at the Wagah border to discuss the draft agreement for finalising the modalities of the Kartarpur corridor and related technical issues.
The corridor will connect Darbar Sahib in Pakistan's Kartarpur with Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district and facilitate visa-free movement of Sikh pilgrims from India, who will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib, which was established in 1522 by Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikh faith.
