India sends 15 tons food aid to quake-hit Afghanistan, as EAM phones FM Amir Khan Muttaqi

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) Reaffirming its support to the Afghan people, India today delivered 15 tonnes of food items to Afghanistan for families affected by the 6.3 Richter earthquake that hit the northern parts of the country.
The food aid comes as External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a phone talk with the Afghan Taliban FM Amir Khan Muttaqi to offer condolences over the deaths caused by the quake in north Afghanistan, and reiterate that India will always stand by Afghanistan.
India’s aid of food items today comes a day after New Delhi provided over 16 tonnes of medicines and diagnostic kits for vector-borne diseases to Afghanistan as part of its ongoing humanitarian assistance, handing them over to the Ministry of Public Health.
