New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday tested positive for Novel Coronavirus.
According to a post on the Twitter account of the Vice President, Mr Naidu was tested positive in a routine COVID-19 test on Tuesday.
He is, however, asymptomatic and in good health.
'The Vice President of India, who underwent a routine COVID-19 test today morning, has been tested positive.
He is however, asymptomatic and in good health. He has been advised home quarantine. His wife Mrs. Usha Naidu has been tested negative and is in self-isolation,' the tweet from the office of the Vice President said.
Mr Naidu is the most high-profile official of the Union Government to contract the contagion.
In the recent weeks, Home Minister Amit Shah, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Culture Minister Prahlad Patel had tested positive for COVID-19.
