Medical body urges Centre to ramp up establishment of ICUs across country to tackle future pandemics

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Indian Society for Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) has urged the Centre to set-up fully functional ICUs at district and taluka levels with trained personnel manning them in a bid to prepare for the future pandemics.
It will also take the pressure off the tertiary care centers, it added.
“There is a huge deficit in Critical care specialists, nurses and technicians in the country and this fact has come glaringly to the fore-front in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic. The ISCCM is instrumental in training personnel both academically and in skill development to fill the gap.
