New Delhi, Jul 29 (UNI) India's active cases Wednesday rose to 509447 after 12459 fresh such cases were added in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare update said here.
However, more than the active cases, the country has registered recoveries during the past one day that amount to 35286 , taking the cured and discharged patients count to 988029 , as per the government data.
As per the data, the COVID recovery rate in of the country has improved to 64.51 per cent.
On the brighter side , the cured and discharged Covid cases have exceeded the active cases by 478582 with the improving rate of recovery.
Death toll across the nation due to the pandemic has also mounted to 34193 after 768 more lives were claimed by the virus.
Fatality rate with respect to COVID 19 in the nation is 2.23 per cent , the government data added.
The overall covid tally of the country so far has reached past 15 lakh so far after including the fresh recoveries , active cases and the fatalities in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,77,43,740 samples have been tested for COVID as per the Indian Council of Medical Research till Tuesday.
