Gallantry award winner Delhi cop dies of Covid-19

New Delhi, Jul 1 (UNI) Delhi Police Inspector and Gallantry award winner Sanjeev Kumar Yadav lost his battle to the Covid-19 at Max hospital Saket on Tuesday night.

Yadav, posted with Delhi Police's Special Cell, was fighting the lethal virus for about two weeks.

Taking to twitter, Lieutenant Governor Delhi Anil Baijal condoled Yadav's demise.

In his message the LG said , 'Extremely saddened at the death of Insp Sanjeev Kumar Yadav in the line of duty fighting COVID-19.A great warrior, recipient of Police Medal for gallantry, he brought laurels for @DelhiPolice. His untimely demise is irreplaceable loss for the organizationMy deepest condolences!'.

Special Cell has also expressed grief over the death of Yadav, who was an asset to the department and had brought laurels to the Delhi Police.

This happens to be the ninth Covid death in the Delhi Police.

So far, more than 1200 police personnel have contracted the lethal virus.
