New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) One of the tribal groups, in which the Corona infection was detected in Andaman and Nicobar Islands currently, has 15 reported active cases and six people in another group have now recovered.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan told a press conference on Tuesday that there are six tribal groups in Andaman and Nicobar and five of the Great Andamanese tribe, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), which are located in Port Blair and Andaman, Greater and The Middle inhabit the separate islands of Andaman.
He said a tribal group called 'Nicobaries', are excluded from this PVTG category but some people of this group were earlier found to be Corona positive and currently have 15 active cases of Corona. Great Andamanese tribal groups fall into this category and these tribals live in Strait Island and some of their relatives worked in government jobs in Port Blair. Six people from this group were found positive, who were admitted to GB Pant Hospital there and have now recovered after treatment and have moved to their island.
