New Delhi Oct 2 (UNI) Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Puri said under the Ujjwala Yojna the number of gas connection in the country has gone up to over 30 crore.
While distributing gas connections under the scheme on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi birth anniversary here on Saturday, the Minister said, “When Narendra Modi first became Prime Minister in 2014, there were only 14 crore connections. But when scheme started in 2016, now number of connections has gone up to 30 crore."
In May 2016, government had launched ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ (PMUY) as a flagship scheme with an objective to make clean cooking fuel such as LPG available to the rural and deprived households.
The Minister said the PM has started Swachchta Abhiyaan 2.0 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and if we have got success in this it is not that we built crores of toilets. “Safai workers have cooperated in this to make it a Jan Andolan,” he added.
Recounting the central schemes, BJP State president Adesh Gupta said Women have benefited the most of the Modi’s welfare policies and programmes.
“Jan Dhan Yojna, Ujjwala Yojna, Awaas Yojna, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Poshan Yojna have all directly benefited women,” he said.
He said Modi government helped over 22 crore women by opening their accounts in banks and over 17.7 crore women were given loan to start their own work.
“Over two crore of them were connected with Disha Yojna. It is only because women have been given leadership role in the Modi government,” he added.
