New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Indefinite hunger strike by river activist Prof GD Agrawal for demands related to the Ganga, continued on 54th day on Tuesday at the AIIMS Rishikesh even as satyagraha march in his support reported from various places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajsthan.
Prof Agrawal akka Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand, who was shifted to the hospital in Rishikesh from Kankhal-Haridwar following health complications yesterday, has given consent to take medicines and treatment but refused to break his fast.
"Even Union Minister and Swami's old associate Uma Bharti during her visit to Haridwar last week could not persuade him to break the fast", Tarun Bharat Sangh chief Stockholm Water Award winner Dr Rajendra Singh said.
Singh, who has closely been working for Prof Agrawal's ongoing stir, said that Ms Bharti has assured that the Centre would work on Swamiji's demands within 40 days but the latter refused to relent.
Meanwhile, activists held demonstration and satyagraha march at some places in UP, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan including Wyndhamganj in Sonbhadra, Haridwar and Bhikhampura-Alwar, Singh added.
