Festival of Lights aftermath: Delhi air quality slides

New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) A day after Deepavali, air quality level slid to severe level from very poor in Delhi. The decline took place despite the apex court restrictions on the sale of sparklers in Delhi and the National Capital Region. At many places, the quality air index (QAI) in Delhi and NCR regions were recorded on the higher side. As per the data released at 1400 hrs on Friday by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) the PM10 and PM 2.5 at Lodhi Road were as high as 676 and 905 respectively. At Aya Nagar, these were 654 and 616, at Mathura Road 610 and 665 and at Gurugram 498 and 569 respectively. All these levels come under the severe category. The Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB) has also recorded a rise in the PM10 and PM 2.5 level. As per CPCB websites at 1500 hrs, the average index value of air quality was ' very poor.
