New Delhi, Oct  7 (UNI) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed his 20 years in public office on Thursday, the ruling BJP is holding a series of events across the country to spread awareness regarding the work being done by him.
A number of BJP leaders wished the Prime Minister on the occasion.
It was on October 7, 2001 when PM Modi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The Prime Minister had served as the CM of Gujarat for four consecutive terms and out of these 20 years, he has spent around seven as the Prime Minister, he is serving his second term right now.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister’s Office has stated that, “PM @narendramodi completed 20 years as a head of Government today, 7th Oct. He has often described himself as a ‘Pradhan Sevak’, working for an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.”
“On this day 20 years ago, I got a new responsibility to serve the public. My journey of serving the people, living among the people was going on for many decades, but 20 years ago today, I got a new responsibility as the Chief Minister of Gujarat,” the PMO tweeted quoting PM Modi.
In his congratulatory message BJP President JP Nadda said "I extend heartfelt congratulations to PM Modi on completing 20 years as the head of Government today. As a ‘Pradhan Sevak’, he has made India a global power. He also gave the mantra of 'Sewa hi sangathan' for our party."
In his video message Mr Nadda listed out several schemes launched by his government.
“He launched many schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Kisan Saaman Nidhi Yojana, PM Awaas Yojana and many more to uplift the poor. Through many schemes, the role of middlemen was eliminated, putting an end to corruption," the BJP president said.

I got the opportunity to work in the government and organization first in Gujarat and then in the center under the leadership of Modi Ji. Let us all give our best to realize the resolve of a strong and self-reliant India under the leadership of Modi ji.#20yearsofSevaSamarpan,”
Praising the Prime Minister Modi, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the PM has heralded a new era of development in the country. He tweeted: "Today marks 20 years of PM Narendra Modi ji's governance in the service of the people. He began on October 07, 2001, as the CM of Gujarat and since then, has heralded a new era of development of the nation, transforming the people's lives."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also greeted, Mr Modi and said, “Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri @narendramodi Hearty congratulations to Mr. K. K. for completing twenty years in public life while holding a constitutional post. These unbroken 20 years have been unblemished along with being devoted to public welfare. His popularity has continued to grow and may continue to grow, such best wishes,”
