New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) BJP on Wednesday appointed former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as its in-charge for the Bihar assembly elections.
In a statement here, the party said that BJP president J P Nadda has appointed Mr Fadnavis as In-charge of Bihar elections.
Elections to 243-member state Assembly will be held in three phases -- on October 28, November 3 and November 7, and the counting of votes will take place on November 10.
Mr Fadnavis thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Nadda for the appointment.
'I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president J P Nadda for appointing me as party in-charge for Bihar Elections. We will contest the elections with full vigour,' he said in his tweet.
The appointment will be applicable with immediate effect, the statement added.
Discussions are being held on seat-sharing arrangements with NDA allies including the JD(U) and the LJP.
