New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Tuesday said India will become a fully literate country by 2030, under the literacy mission's reading and writing campaign.
Dr Pokhriyal, who was addressing a function organised on International Literacy Day during the COVID-19 period here, said, 'Everyone knows that illiteracy is a worldwide problem. In such a situation, since 1965, special attention is being given to efforts to eradicate illiteracy.
'According to UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring Report 2017-18, 35 per cent of the total illiterate adults around the world are in India,' he added.
