India’s Services Sector Anchors Growth Amid Global Uncertainty, Says Economic Survey

New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) India’s services sector has cemented its position as the economy’s main growth engine, emerging as a pillar of resilience, exports and employment amid global uncertainty, according to the Economic Survey 2025–26 tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.
In a dedicated chapter titled “Services: From Stability to New Frontiers,” the Survey says the sector has become “the principal engine of economic growth, resilience, and structural transformation” at a time when global industrial activity remains subdued and geopolitical risks persist.
“Against a backdrop of global uncertainty and subdued global industrial activity, the services sector has emerged as a stabilising force,” the Survey notes, adding that services now contribute “more than half of India’s Gross Value Added and serve as a major driver of exports and employment.”
