Dr Swamy flays Govt on petrol prices, says higher rate implies 'exploitation'

Dr Swamy flays Govt on petrol prices, says higher rate implies 'exploitation'

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy on Monday slammed the NDA regime on the escallating prices of petrol suggesting higher prices perhaps imply 'exploitation' of the consumers.

"The petrol prices should not be more than Rs 40 per litre" Dr Swamy said and went on to add that "everything else is exploitation".

Petrol and diesel prices on Monday scaled highest levels mainly due to dramatic fall in rupee and also a sharp rise in crude oil rates.

Petrol price in Delhi rose to a record 79.15 a litre and diesel climbed to a fresh high of 71.15, sources said.

The BJP-led dispensation has come under attack for the continuous increase in prices of petrol.

The Congress has slammed government for not passing the impact of reduced prices of petrol and diesel in the international markets to the consumers.
