Modi, Danish PM hold talks on taking forward Green Strategic Partnership

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen sat down for bilateral talks here today, during which they would seek to take forward the unique India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted: “Towards nurturing India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership!
“PM @narendramodi welcomes Danish PM @Statsmin
H.E. Ms. Mette Frederiksen for their bilateral engagement.”
During the Virtual Summit held on September 28, last year, India and Denmark had established a ‘Green Strategic Partnership’, the only country with which India has such a partnership.
The three-day state visit by Frederiksen is her first such visit to India.
Earlier in the day, she was accorded a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, after which she went to Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
Later, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called on her.
“Welcomed Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on her first visit to India.
Our Green Strategic Partnership will advance further as a result,” he tweeted.
Both sides are expected to discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations and review the progress in implementation of the ‘Green Strategic Partnership’. Both sides will also discuss regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
The visit of the Danish PM comes a month after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Copenhagen during which he held talks with his Danish counterpart, and the two sides added an 11th working group – on health -- to the 10 they already have.
Jaishankar’s visit to Copenhagen was the first by an Indian foreign minister in 20 years.
During his visit, Jaishankar co-chaired the fourth round of the Indo-Danish Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) with his Danish counterpart Jeppe Kofod to take forward the unique bilateral Green Strategic Partnership.
