MoS Lekhi to visit Serbia as PM's Special Envoy to attend 60th anniversary event of NAM

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi will be visiting Belgrade, Serbia, from October 10-13, as the Special Envoy of Prime Minister to attend the High-level Commemorative Meeting to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The 60th Anniversary NAM Commemorative Meeting is being jointly co-hosted by the President of Serbia Alexsander Vučić, and NAM Chair President Aliyev of Azerbaijan.
The 60th anniversary of the first NAM Conference, which was held in Belgrade in 1961, provides an opportunity to reflect on how the Movement can respond to complex global challenges more effectively, guided by its founding principles of mutual respect, solidarity and cooperation. As a founding member of NAM, India will continue to work towards strengthening the NAM, as an important platform to raise the concerns of the developing world, a statement said.
