My India visit a milestone in our bilateral cooperation: Danish PM

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has termed her visit to India as a “milestone in our bilateral cooperation”.Speaking to the media at Rashtrapati Bhavan where she was accorded a ceremonial welcome, she said: “India is a very close partner to Denmark, therefore I see this visit as a milestone in our bilateral cooperation.
“PM Modi and I last year were able to design and agree on a green strategic partnership and today I am glad we could meet here in Delhi to be more complete when it comes to renewables, when it comes to wind, when it comes to water. \\"And what we see is a very ambitious Indian government that really wants to take a great responsibility when it comes to India and the world. In a few weeks COP 26 at Glasgow is coming up and I hope we can use this fantastic meeting today to agree on how we can support the rest of the world. So I have great expectations and I am very, very thankful for being here today.”
She was earlier accorded a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today on taking forward the unique bilateral Green Strategic Partnership.The Danish Prime Minister and her husband Bo Tengberg were received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
They later went to Rajghat to pay their tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s samadhi.The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson tweeted:

H.E. Ms. Mette Frederiksen paid a solemn tribute to Bapu at Rajghat. “Mahatma Gandhi’s message of trusteeship for the planet inspires our countries toward green growth trajectories.”
She arrived earlier in the morning on her first State Visit to India. She was welcomed by Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi at the airport.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson tweeted: “Greetings to our Green Partner!
“MOS @M_Lekhi receives the Danish PM @Statsmin H.E. Ms. Mette Frederiksen on her first State Visit to India.“An opportunity to review and further the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership.”
The Danish PM married her long-time film director partner Bo Tengberg last year in June.UNI/RN
