Delhi roads to be re-designed for more efficiency and safety: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) The roads of the National Capital will be re-designed to match to international standards and to resolve the traffic movement issue, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday.
For now nine roads will be re-designed on a trial basis initially that are around 45 km, the Delhi CM said, adding that this will help resolve the traffic problem and it will also likely help in bringing down the road accidents.
The roads that will be re-designed by the Delhi Government will be the ones managed by the Public Works Department of the state government.
They will be redesigned in accordance with international standards, Mr Kejriwal said while addressing a press here.
The re-designing will also include landscaping and making space for non-motorised vehicles and differently-abled persons, he added.
In the first phase of the Rs 400 crore project, the roads selected include from AIIMS to Ashram and from Vikas Marg (Laxmi Nagar Chungi) to Karkarduma.
