India, China to hold 14th round of military talks on Jan 12

New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) India and China will hold 14th round of talks on January 12 over the ongoing border standoff.
Sources in the security establishment said Senior Highest Military Commander Level (SHMCL) Talks will take place on at Chushul-Moldo meeting point, on the Chinese side.
"Indian side is looking forward to constructive dialogue to resolve the balance friction areas," sources said.
The 13th round of Corps Commander-level talks was held at Modlo Garrison, across the LAC in Chushul on October 11, 2021.
The talks, which were held after a gap of around two months, lasted for over eight hours, but remained inconclusive.
The standoff began in May 2020 when Chinese troops tried to unilaterally alter the LAC in Eastern Ladakh sector, where the border is not clearly demarcated.
The Chinese action led to eyeball-to-eyeball situation, especially in Depsang, Pangong Lake, Gogra Hills and Hot Springs areas, as India mobilised troops to match Chinese military buildup to thwart the designs of the adversary.
The subsequent rounds of talks resulted in disengagement in Pangong Lake and Gogra areas.
However, the standoff continues in some other areas like Depsang.
