Defence Ministry amends Defence Acquisition Procedure

New Delhi, April 25 (UNI) The Government on Monday introduced changes in the Defence Acquisition Procedure and said that all modernisation requirements of the three Services and Indian Coast Guard will now be indigenously sourced, irrespective of the nature of procurement.
The import of defence equipment/sourcing from Foreign Industry of capital acquisitions should only be an exception and undertaken with specific approval of Defence Acquisition Council, said the Ministry.
It has been done to further promote Make in India, self reliance in defence and enable Ease of Doing Business, added the Ministry.
