Assam violence: AIKS demands CM's resignation

New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) Two days after two people, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed and several police personnel injured during an eviction drive in Darrang district of Assam, the All Indian Kisan Sabha (AIKS) on Saturday termed the eviction drive as ''blot on humanity" and demanded the resignation of state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
AIKS said that the CM is holding the Home Affairs portfolio as well that is why 'he is directly responsible for encouraging such action'.
AIKS, in a statement said, "The eviction drive took place even as a case was pending with the Gauhati High Court on the matter, without even giving notice to the people."
