New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) The latest data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has proved that people of the national capital are serious on the issue of air pollution and are determined to curb it, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia here on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Sisodia said, "decrease in consumption of diesel and lesser number of new vehicles purchased in 2017 is a clear indication of awareness displayed by Delhiites towards controlling air pollution."
Mr Sisodia said though a lot needs to be done and the Delhi government is working towards its, this is good news for any resident of Delhi and this couldn’t have been possible without a joint efforts of all the residents of Delhi, Courts and various agencies of the Government.
According to the CPCB data on average pollution in Delhi for 2017, it cited that after five years, for the first time, Delhi has seen a year where average levels of pollution in terms of PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels have decreased. Average PM 10 level has reduced from 310 in 2016 to 260 in 2017. The average PM 2.5 level has reduced from 120 in 2016 to 101 in 2017.
