COVID-19 count 3,374, death toll touches 79, no proof of virus being airborne yet

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) COVID casualties in India on Sunday mounted to 79 and the tally stood at 3,374 with 11 fresh casualties and 472 people testing positive for the pandemic in the past one day, Health Ministry said.
With around 246 fresh active cases adding up since Saturday evening, the total number of active cases by Sunday evening were 3030, according to the Health ministry data, Joint Secretary Health Ministry Lav Agarwal said while briefing the press here on Sunday evening.

There is a little increase in the number of cured and discharged cases, the number now stands at 267, he said.
The Indian Council for Medical Research official on Sunday said that there was no evidence of the virus being airborne yet.
He said that the government's approach in dealing with the situation has been proactive, Mr Agarwal said, adding,' instead of virus chasing us, we are chasing the virus.'
On Saturday evening, the Health ministry had said that out of the total cases of the deadly virus so far reported in the country, about 1023 were related to those, who either came in contact with, or attended the religious congregation, organised by Tablighi Jamaat at the Nizamuddin Markaz last month.
Mr Agarwal had said that positive cases related to Tablighi Jamaat have been reported from 17 states and Union Territories.
These include Delhi, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Andaman & Nicobar, Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh.
Tamil Nadu has again seen a spike in cases since Saturday evening, with the number now at 485,
just five numbers lesser than Maharashtra that has the maximum number of confirmed covid cases in the country that were 490 so far.
Delhi with 445 cases was at number three, which also is amongst some of those states where the numbers have spiked in the past three to four days.
