New Delhi, Sept 21 (UNI) Reacting to senior leader Narayan Rane's resignation from the party, the Congress today suggested that it could be linked to BJP's accusation that the leader has connections with the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Talking to reporters here, AICC media in charge Randeep Surjewala said, 'only yesterday, a member of BJP's Central working committee had made an allegation of Rane having connection with Dawood Ibrahim. No statement has been made by Mr Rane or his associates in this regard. It is intriguing how one day BJP levels allegations against Mr Rane, and the next day he resigns.' He demanded that BJP national President Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh should place in public domain whatever evidence they have about any leader having connection with Dawood Ibrahim. "We believe that any leader who has a connection with Dawood should be exposed and evidence must be released in public domain. However, nobody should be maligned in absence of any evidence based on innuendos and insinuations,' he said. In this context, he questioned what evidence the BJP had against Mr Rane. 'What evidence does the BJP have (on Mr Rane's links with Dawood). All of it should be placed in public domain,' he said. Senior Congress leader from Maharashtra Mr Rane has resigned from the party citing that the party was not fulfilling the promise of making him the Chief Minister. UNI AR PY SHK 2316
