New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) The Congress on Thursday said it is contemplating on preponing its 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' in view of the present situation in the country.
The grand old party had announced the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from October 2 during the 'Chintan Shivir' in Rajasthan's Udaipur in May, in a bid to strengthen the bonds of social harmony, preserve the foundational values of the Constitution which the party claimed are under 'attack' in the BJP-led government at the Centre, besides highlighting the issues like inflation and unemployment.
"We may start the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' before October 2, in view of the repeated and intensifying attacks on our democracy, Constitution, institutions and the social fabric of our society by the Modi government and BJP. We are exploring the possibility," Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said at a press conference at the party headquarters here, after a meeting was held on the planning of the Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
