Chandigarh, Sep 29 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday said he will talk to Navjot Singh Sidhu and denied any rift in the Congress party in the state.
This came at a press conference where Channi announced a massive waiver on electricity bills for the poor.
Channi, who had announced an electricity bill waiver soon after he took over the post, on Wednesday said all consumers who have less than 2 kilowatt consumption, will get a waiver on all pending electricity bills.
The amount of the dues will be paid by the government, Channi said it would be to the tune of Rs 1200 crore.
Asked about differences with Sidhu, he denied any rift and said he talked to Sidhu on Wednesday morning, and will talk to him again.
"There is no rift. I talked to Sidhu this morning. If he has any differences he should come and talk," Channi said.
"We will sit and talk and the issues will be resolved," he said.
Sidhu gave his resignation from the post of Punjab Congress Chief on Tuesday, which has not yet been accepted by the Congress high command.
On Wednesday morning Sidhu launched an attack on the Channi led government without naming him, and questioned the appointment of certain ministers some officials.
His resignation came days after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as chief minister and was succeeded by Charanjit Singh Channi.
