Assy passes resolutions for reservation of seats for Delhi students

New Delhi, Jun 29 (UNI) After a short duration discussion regarding reservation of seats for Delhi's students in colleges, the Delhi Assembly today passed resolutions in these regard including 85 per-cent reservation of seats in colleges that are funded by the State Government. Both the resolutions were proposed Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the House and these resolution were passed unanimously. The two resolutions are--85 per cent reservation of seats for students from Delhi and recommend to the Central Government to amend the Delhi University Act (1922). Speaking in the House , Mr Sisodia said, "The State Government which don't provide good education to the students, it canno't do anything for nation. Since AAP rode to power in Delhi, we have been emphasing on it. I have written to Union HRD Ministry for 85 per cent reservation but no action was taken in the matter." "Today, I am proposing resolutions before the House. Taking note of the fact that there are over two lakh students who pass out from schools in Delhi and many of them are struggling to get admission in Higher Education institutions, though 28 Colleges in DU are funded partially or fully by the Delhi government. The money of tax payers from Delhi is being used to fund these colleges. Therefore, the House hereby resolves that 85 per cent seats should be reserved for students from Delhi, in the colleges that are funded by the State Government," the Deputy chief minister stated Secondly, as per the Delhi University Act (1922), no other University in Delhi is legally authorised to give affiliation to any college. The House hereby resolves to recommend to the Central Government to amend the DU Act and add a second provision in Section 5, Sub-section (2) of it, Mr Sisodia stated. More UNI DS SHK 2028
