Assam CM hopeful of tracing 19 workers missing in Arunachal

New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said concerned officials are in touch with their Arunachal Pradesh counterpart in the matter related to 19 workers from the state, who reportedly went missing from the Kurung Kumey district bordering China.
The CM also expressed hope that their whereabouts will be traced very soon.
"Our Deputy Commissioners are looking into this matter. They are in touch with their counterparts (Arunachal Pradesh ) and holding talks from time to time.
"I believe we will be able to trace them," Sarma told reporters at the Assam House after being asked about whether the state government held any discussion with the Arunachal Pradesh government over missing of 19 labourers.
Nineteen construction workers from Assam, engaged in a BRO road project along the India-China border, went missing from the work site in Huri under Damin circle of Kurung Kumey district on July 5 and their whereabouts is not known yet.
The remote circle of Damin does not have telephone or other network services till date, as per the DC Nighee Bengia.
The DC earlier said prevailing weather conditions and difficult terrain have been impeding progress of the search and rescue teams tracing the 19 missing labourers.
The district administration has requisitioned the services of Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter.
Arunachal Pradesh shares 1,080 km border with China.
